Workshop SOS Project – Final Event

The final workshop of the activities of the SOS – Smart Operating Shelter Project will be held on 18 March 2021 at 15:00.

Event: “European Innovation Partnership EIP-AHA”

On December 15, 2020, the Webinar “European Innovation Partnership EIP-AHA – The Reference Site Puglia meets the territory” will be held, in which Prof. Bevilacqua has been invited to present the SOS Project chosen as one of the most relevant use cases on technology, solution and model among Research and Innovation projects financed by Apulia Region calls.

The scientific paper entitled “Semantic Segmentation Framework for Glomeruli Detection and Classification in Kidney Histological Sections”, written by N. Altini, G. D. Cascarano, A. Brunetti, F. Marino, M. T. Rocchetti, S. Matino, U. Venere, M. Rossini, F. Pesce, L. Gesualdo and Vitoantonio Bevilacqua and founded by the SOS project, has been today published on an important scientific open access journal.

SOS Project – COVID19 Emergency

The SOS projectSmart Operating Shelter – becomes more and more current because of the COVID19 emergency and the ever-increasing demand for beds in intensive care.

Indeed, in the coming weeks it will be important to be able to set up temporary health facilities capable of giving an effective response in terms of isolation and treatment of infected patients.

As part of the SOS project, architectural layouts were designed and engineering solutions were investigated to quickly set up mobile health structures that are easy to assemble and install, with smart sandwich panels and with low environmental impact. The know-how acquired in these months will be made available to the regional health system.

Event: Workshop on Medical Treatment Facilities (MTF) and Telemedicine, Bruxelles 2nd-3rd October, 2019

On 2-3 October 2019, the European Defence Agency will organise a Workshop on Medical Treatment Facilities (MTF) and Telemedicine in order to support and facilitate future Multinational Medical Modular Unit (M3U) capability development and to foster and establish a dialogue with industry.

The main objective of the workshop will be to identify requirements for development of new MTF and telemedicine solutions as well as advanced products and services within two specific areas:

  • Field hospitals for future CSDP operations.
  • Telemedicine.

The activities and results achieved by SOS Project will be presented during theWorkshop.

Best Paper Award at BMEiCON – 2018

The scientific paper entitled “Pattern Recognition and Mixed Reality for Computer-Aided Maxillofacial Surgery and Oncological Assessment”, written by A. Pepe, G.F. Trotta, J. Wallner, C. Gsaner, D. Schmalstieg, J. Egger and V. Bevilacqua and founded by the SOS project, won the 1st prize at the conference “The 2018 Biomedical Engineering International Conference – BMEiCON 2018” (Chiang Mai, Thailand, 21st-24th of November 2018).

Event: Research Open Day at Cittadella della Ricerca Brindisi 28th September 2018
